in the below link argument, the expert confirms answer E is correctly inferred from the passage while the question is : CANNOT refute the argument, I believe according to what I learnt from the videos that C is the Correct

Be careful. The question is "Which of the following CANNOT be INFERRED from the passage?" You have "refute."

To infer is the same a to conclude. So, another way to phrase the question is "Which of the following is NOT a valid conclusion?"

We CAN make the conclusions stated in A, B, D and E.

HOWEVER, we cannot conclude that "World War I led to the 1918–1919 flu pandemic" (answer choice C)

Here's my summary of the chain of events described:

Global warming causes less sea ice. Less sea ice causes less salty water. Water with less salt is less likely to sink and stir up deep water (which contains heat). In other words, the deep heat stays where it is. So, with further global warming, the surface waters would remain cold enough so the impact wouldn't be as great.

7) It can be inferred from the passage that which of the following is true of the surface waters in the current Antarctic environment?
Answer choice C perfectly describes the process.
With increased atmospheric temperatures, deep waters aren't stirred up as much.
C) They are more likely to sink and stir up deep waters than they would be if atmospheric temperatures were to increase.

8) The passage suggests that Martinson believes which of the following about deep waters in the Antarctic region?
Martinson believes that increased atmospheric temperatures REDUCE the rate at which heat from deep water is stirred up.
Answer choice A echos this idea.
A) They rise to the surface more quickly than they would if global warming were to occur.

9) According to the passage, which of the following is true about the sea ice that surrounds the Antarctic continent?
Answer choice E is in line with our summary:
E) Changes in the amount of sea ice affect the degree of saltiness of the surface waters

I struggled with the word "the current Antarctic environment", I could not find anywhere in the article where stated about the current situation.

I had the same issue when I first read the question :-)

Notice that C doesn't actually say what's currently happening with Antarctic temperatures. It just tells us that the sinking/stirring action we see with today's deep waters would be more than the action we'd see IF atmospheric temperatures were to increase.
