This is a fantastic strategy. However, I'm noticing that the GRE expects (yes, EXPECTS) you to know certain math shortcuts if you are to have any shot at finishing the quant sections on time, which is rather terrible to be honest. If you get the same correct answer taking the long route, so what? What really matters are correct answers here. This is why I got an extended time accommodation approved for my GRE test :). The extra time actually affords me to do tedious calculations in case I don't know any shortcuts.
