Question: 3x + 2y

Comment on 3x + 2y

Awsm!

Wow

I am having difficulty with how to approach Quantitative comparison questions in all topics. I seem to perform better with other types of problems. How can I better approach these types of questions? Like is there a golden rule for these? thank you in advance!

There are several strategies that you need to know in order to solve Quantitative Comparison questions.

Hi Mr Hanneson,
I used the elimination method
I got the solution:- y = 2.8 and x = -0.2

Did I do it right?

I multiplied the first equation by 2 and the second equation by 3. then I eliminated 6x from both sides by subtracting 2nd eqn from the 1st on. then I got those above values.

Your calculations are perfect!

How did a subtraction of y from both quantities yield x-y and o
greenlight-admin's picture

We started with:
QUANTITY A: x
QUANTITY B: y

If we subtract y from both quantities, we get:
QUANTITY A: x - y
QUANTITY B: y - y

Simplify to get:
QUANTITY A: x - y
QUANTITY B: 0

How did you arrive at x-y for quantity A and 0 for Quantity B when you subtracted Y from both quantities

I already answered that question (above)

Brent

Okay Great.i thought you were subtracting Y from the original linear system equations

Splendid approach!
