Question: TV Frequencies - Question I

Comment on TV Frequencies - Question I

Hi there, won't it be easier if we determine the percent of households who don't have more than 1 television (43+27=70)/150 which is ~50-%, so the converse will be ~50+%; hence (D)? This way two numbers need to be added instead of five.

Great idea, Tanvir!

Hi Brent,

Can all GRE Math problems be solved without a calculator like those on the GMAT? The fact that they provide one, does it imply that some problems CANNOT be solved without using the calculator?

I do realize that GMAT Math is specifically targeted towards Business school students and thus assume a strong quant background whereas the GRE targets general grad school students from various backgrounds, but would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Thanks.

Great question!

I'd say that most people with strong math skills can complete the quant sections WITHOUT relying on the GRE's onscreen calculator.

Personally, I think the GRE test-makers provide a calculator to make their test look more attractive to students who have the flexibility to take either the GMAT or the GRE.

Cheers,
Brent
