The manufacturer sold twice as many units of Q as P.
So, (number of units of Q sold) = 2(number of units of P sold)

There are twice as many employees in x as y
So, (number of employees in x) = 2(number of employees in y)

There are twice as many boys as girls
So, (number of boys) = 2(number of girls)

In general, if we are told " There are twice as many X's as Y's," we can write: X = 2Y
