Brent Hanneson (BSc, BEd, MEd)

Hello and welcome to my free GRE course. Here’s a brief summary of my experience:

  • 1992: became a high school math teacher
  • 2002: began teaching/tutoring the GRE
  • 2007: created a GRE courseware package that the University of British Columbia uses in its own GRE preparation courses and licenses to other schools
  • 2013: created the videos on this website

Over the past 24 years, I’ve identified the obstacles that impede students’ progress, and I’ve discovered the GRE-specific skills and strategies required to beat this challenging test.

I hope to pass on everything I’ve learned to you.

This website isn’t the product of my efforts alone. In fact, I can only take credit for the instructional content. Several years ago, I was lucky enough to find an awesome programmer named Chris Charpentier who puts up with my wildly uninformed programming requests. On the design front, my wife, Carlee, is responsible for all things aesthetic, including the website’s layout, functionality and more (she’s also the world’s greatest mom!). Finally, and most most MOST importantly, a big thanks to my 2-year-old son, Nate, who serves as a wonderful diversion and a constant daily reminder of what’s really important.

Aside #1: I provide private online tutoring.

Aside #2: I also have a free GMAT prep course at
