why is 1 + 3/4 = 7/4 ?

1 + 3/4 = 4/4 + 3/4
= (4 + 3)/4
= 7/4

Does that help?


Any practice questions with fractions with in fractions? I've seen it in real test, the ETS guide never mention them.
