Lesson: About the GRE

Comment on About the GRE

In the verbal section where you have to select more than one answer, you must get both answers correct to get the points right? Or do you get partial credit?

No partial credit, you must get all right or no points!

good intro for the whole exam. Thank you very much!

Dear Brent,
For the features of the test interface, I heard from someone that starting from 2017, I am not allowed to return to any questions within the same ONE section(either Verbal or Math). I heard that once I chose an answer and hit next, I won't be able to go back to any previous questions either to check my answer again or to solve it! I am not sure of this information. Could you please reassure me that this is NOT TRUE. Thank you so much!

Hi rehabkhalil,

The information you heard is incorrect.

This webpage discusses the format of the GRE: https://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/about/content/

It says "The test-taker friendly design lets you skip questions within a section, go back and change answers and have the flexibility to choose which questions within a section you want to answer first. "

Many thanks Brent! This is relieving news!

Hi Brent, a great video i am a fan of your course.

Quick question - you mentioned 1/2 of all questions in the verbal section will be on reading comprehension. Therefore am i write to assume approx. 20/40 questions in the verbal section (combined) will be on RC?

Warm regards
R

That's correct.

What is the purpose of analytical writing section ?
Because verbal and quantitative sections have a total of 340 mark . So where does the mark of analytical writing goes ?
greenlight-admin's picture

Some programs care about your Analytical Writing (AW) score, and others don't.
Each score is separate. So, you'll receive 3 scores:
1) Quant score (130 - 170)
2) Verbal score (130 - 170)
3) AW score (0 - 6)

Cheers,
Brent

thanks, Brent
this sounds like a good start

Thanks Brent! I really enjoy the speed-up feature. I usually listen and then slow down when I need to. This saves me time.

Glad to hear you like that feature. I've heard from many students who use a similar strategy.

Brent
